Hi,

Thanks for the reply. But come on dude, give me some credit: I am well
aware of "AUTO_INCREMENT" types. The reason why I asked is because
the solution used by Scoop cannot possibly be a simple AUTO_INCREMENT.
Note that there is a comment counter *for each* story. In order to
use AUTO_INCREMENT, you would need as many sequences as the number of
stories! Besides, I had looked at the scoop.sql file, and duly noted
that there was nothing special about the "cid" in the comments table.
The auto-incrementing (or not so "auto") must be happening somewhere,
but unless MySQL has a feature I'm not familiar with (I'm a Postgresql
guy), it sure isn't happening at the database side.

Therefore, my initial question remains. Is someone familiar enough with
Scoop able to answer it? (And again thanks in advance!)

Kind regards,
C.S.
