Hi Dave,

The default template actually isn't the one used on the front page. 
(Confusing, I know...) The front and section index pages use 
index_template instead, which is the only page template with the three 
column layout.

To search the list archives, I recommend google. Add this to your 
search string:

site:lists.kuro5hin.org

and it will only search the various scoop mailing lists.
