I'm in the same boat, unfortunately. We want to do the same thing: restrict the posting of stories to our internal users, and allow all registered users to make diaries. To make things a bit more complicated, my boss wants to rename the diaries as "stories" and the "stories" as blog entries. This seems like a lot of manual work, unless there's some global token that's defined somewhere.
