Philip,
I'm sorry to hear you've been having issues with Scoop. It's powerful
software, but it does have an unfortunately steep learning curve.

As for the password issue. I was just able to create an account and log
in and log out just fine. It could be a few things going wrong in your
case though: possibly it's something as simple as a typo'd or forgotten
password, it's possibly a cookie issue (this usually results in being
able to see a page, then getting logged out on the next), or possibly
the group and/or permissions for your administrator account were
accidentally changed or corrupted.

There are a number of knowledgable people subscribed to this list (much
more knowledgable than I :-) ), and most are more than willing to help
out. However, I think we're going to need a little more detail on what
is happening. I have a few questions:
Is this a hosted Scoop service, or is it running on your own machine?
(the latter simplifies some debugging)
What were the last few things you did before you found that you were
locked out?
Do you have direct access to the backend DataBase (this would help in
debugging).

More helpful information to know would be:
What version of Scoop are you running?
What OS and version?
What version of Apache and mod_perl are you running?

Just as a "what the heck" idea, can you try using the "mail password"
link, then trying to log in with the password it sends you?

I apologize if much of this seems trivial and obvious, but in my
experience it's best to try and get the obvious things out of the way
first, then move on to the more complicated things.

MH
