Greetings, While I was originally only going to write to you guys, the thing I was writing got so long I posted it to scoop.kuro5hin.org. I've been talking with rusty about what I had originally proposed as a fork to scoop - ScoopLite. You can see what I had intended to do here: http://scooplite.xlan.org. Rusty pleaded and cajoled me to make the changes to the existing scoop code rather then fork. I think this is an excellent idea, however my only concern is how we can do this without destroying the audiences Scoop and ScoopLite target. Those are two areas which will probably differ the most between Scoop and ScoopLite. I really want flat comments for smaller sites, but I realize that threaded vs. flat will be a debate that our great, great grandchildren will be having and as such, we need to offer both types of comment systems. To facility in allowing two very different comment system to co-exist, I'd really an API of some kind at lets a developer "plug in" a comment system. There are some other changes that I'd need to make, but I've already spent about 1hr doing the essay below, and I've got homework... So... without further ado... http://scoop.kuro5hin.org/displaystory/2003/12/5/161046/577 Thanks! Cory R. King
