This is a jump-start for the discussion of adding calendaring/event
operations to scoop.

The core concept is to take a story and mark it during submission as being
an "event." Along with this a date stamp (or possibly a timestamp, if that
level of granularity is desired) and a location are entered. Location
could either be a freeform text string, or harvested from a list, which
could be added to in some form. (perhaps a moderated queue, similar to
stories?)

Stories marked as an event are put in a special section called "Calendar",
and would be subject to moderation as other stories. Since stories are
used as the mechanism for event storage, comments, ratings, and everything
else stories enjoy are applicable.

For viewing, a separate box is created, with two views. The first is a
mini-calendar view of the current week plus the next three weeks with
those dates with active events highlighted. Dates are links to the
calendar section with stories limited to those occuring on that particular
date. The second is a user-configurable list of upcoming events. Potential
knobs include number of events to show, limit by number of days in the
future, topic or location filter (if a list is used)....

Comments and suggestions are welcomed, I'd like to see this incorporated
into the main codebase as I think it'd be very useful.

Oh yeah, for those I didn't talk to on the channel, Hi. :)
